NEW YEAR NEW YOU?

I'm not sure if I can say that the new year is going to bring about a NEW ME, and to be honest I'm not sure if I agree with this phase craze at the start of every new year that many people adopt and say. You see it popping up every year, people embarking on resolutions to bring about this NEW and shiny them, but...

1. Why wait until the new year to decide and take up opportunities to make changes to your life?

2. This NEW YOU that we talk about is not entirely true and realistic. It is all you have been through, all the experiences you've had, and who you ARE that helps to bring about any change to your life that you refer to as this NEW YOU that you are hoping to become. But those experiences and life lessons are always still going to be part of you into the new year and throughout your entire life. You don't just scrap everything and start NEW with the new year, you use those experiences to learn and grow from to develop new habits, intentions and changes etc. Habits cannot be erased, but they can be changed and developed into healthier habits.

So really, it isn't a NEW YOU, it's still YOU, with everything you are and have been, just choosing to make a few upgrades to your life while acknowledging and reflecting on all you are, and all you have learnt and have been through up until this point.

I am bringing OLD me and CURRENT me to this NEW YEAR, with positive intentions to continue to develop and grow. I like and respect who I am today, so I don't need a NEW me altogether, just me with the added wisdom to continue to better myself.

To me it's more like a NEW YEAR, NEW OPPORTUNITIES... whilst always being true to who I am, and these choices to take new opportunities for growth can happen at any point in the year, not just with every NEW YEAR!

So I encourage you to treat every minute, every hour, every day, every month and every year as an opportunity to start something NEW FOR YOU!
