Life is Messy

Hi, I’m Lucy — a therapeutic coach and counsellor for those who’ve lost themselves in people-pleasing, fixing, and staying small. I’m here to help you reconnect with your voice, feel safe taking up space, and gently release the guilt that’s kept you playing small.
I support those who’ve spent much of their lives putting others first — people who are tired of over giving, struggling with self-doubt, and craving a life that feels more aligned, honest, and free. My work is about gently unravelling the layers that keep you stuck.
What drives me in this work is both professional and personal. I’ve walked this path myself — through self-reflection, life changes, healing, and growth — and I know how transformative it can be to feel truly seen, supported, and empowered to live life on your own terms.

My own journey of self-reflection, discovery, and growth has deeply shaped how I support others. I understand firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate life’s changes and find your true path. What helps me guide you so effectively isn’t just my training—it’s that I’ve been through it myself.
I’m naturally a people person, and over the years I’ve had the privilege of meeting and learning from people of all backgrounds, cultures, ages, and life experiences. These connections, along with my ongoing professional development, enrich my understanding and compassion, allowing me to walk alongside you with empathy and real insight as you work toward your goals and transformation.

MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

I began my journey in 2007, graduating from The University of Salford with a First-Class Honours B.Sc. in Psychology and Counselling, followed by a Diploma in Higher Education in Counselling in 2009 — qualifying me to practice as a Counselling Therapist.
My early experience was rooted in community. I volunteered at the family support centre where I’d trained, working with clients in a therapeutic setting. Not long after, I returned to my hometown and followed a personal interest into the field of addiction support — an area that had always resonated with me due to my own experiences growing up around alcohol misuse. My psychology dissertation had explored the question of what drives people to drink, and I was keen to support others in making lasting change.

In that role, I helped individuals—many struggling with heroin and alcohol dependency—stabilise on prescribed medication and begin their path toward reduction, recovery, and healthier living. I worked therapeutically with them to explore the deeper patterns and decisions shaping their lives.

Through that work, I saw a recurring theme: many of the adults I supported were carrying unresolved pain from early life. This realisation inspired me to pivot into working with young people.

I became the Counselling Coordinator and Project Lead for a youth counselling service, where I:
-
Recruited, trained, and supervised volunteer counsellors
-
Developed and managed the service across schools and community settings
-
Held a full client caseload myself, supporting young people facing issues such as self-harm, anxiety, learning difficulties, adoption, abuse, depression, bullying, and anger
It was challenging, deeply meaningful work — and alongside it, I naturally found myself coaching volunteers, staff, and even school teachers in their personal and professional lives.

A Pause, A Shift, A Return
Eventually, I reached a point where I knew I needed to focus on my growth. Taking time out from counselling gave me the space to reflect, recharge, and gather new life experience — which ultimately enriched my practice.
When I was ready, I returned to client work privately, this time from a new home I had made abroad, working with adults, young people, and adolescents.

Since then, I've moved countries again, taken my work online, and completed an accredited Certificate in Life Coaching — expanding the scope of support I can offer.
Where I Am Now
I continue to offer counselling for a wide range of mental health and emotional issues, but in my therapeutic coaching practice, I’ve chosen to niche down. I now specialise in areas that are both professionally informed and personally meaningful — where my lived experience adds depth to my understanding and support.

My Approach: Rooted in Experience, Focused on Empowerment
In both my counselling and therapeutic coaching work, my approach is grounded in compassion, authenticity, and real-life experience. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all methods — instead, I meet you where you are, and walk alongside you as you reclaim who you are beneath the coping, pleasing, fixing, or self-doubt.

I specialise in supporting those who’ve spent much of their lives putting others first — often at the cost of their own needs, voice, and joy. Together, we gently unravel patterns of over giving, people-pleasing, and self-abandonment so you can begin to reconnect with your body, your boundaries, and your deeper truth.

My work is about helping you release the guilt that so often comes with taking up space, and learning how to honour yourself with compassion. As we do, joy naturally begins to re-emerge — not as something you have to chase, but as something you begin to feel safe enough to allow again.

This isn’t about becoming someone else — it’s about coming home to yourself. It’s about remembering that your needs matter, your voice is valid, and your joy is not a luxury — it’s a birthright.

I know these patterns and longings intimately — not only through years of client work, but through my own lived experience. That’s why I bring a blend of therapeutic depth and coaching momentum to help you heal what’s underneath, create lasting change, and feel empowered to live in alignment with who you truly are.

Whether you work with me as a counsellor or coach, our space will be one of safety, curiosity, truth, and growth — where you're gently supported in coming back to yourself, and to the joy that’s been waiting for you all along.
